Dr. Van Voorhis attended the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, earning a bachelor’s degree in Preprofessional Studies. After graduating, the family moved to Atlanta, where Dr. Van Voorhis completed Emory’s pediatric residency program. Prior to attending medical school, he worked as a secondary teacher, teaching Biology and Earth Space Science, and also as an Instructional Science Staff Developer for a large school district.

They keep him busy with games and activities at school and church and traveling to various parks, playgrounds, and splash pads in the area. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and loves to make new recipes for his family to try. He also enjoys watching TV shows such as Living Single, Big Bang Theory, SpongeBob, and various thrillers.
